It should fix most of the problems and we could test it on a new test machine.

Please report any problem here.

6.14 is looking nice and stable. 79x0 owners should see a ~20% improvement in performance.
Incidences of memory leaks, crashes and long-running/stuck WUs should be substantially reduced.

Please post here with any problems.

Matt - not seeing an improvemnent in speed on 7970 as yet. I've tried upping the GPU a bit, but there is no change to speed above 1200 GPU, 1.206v. When steadily going from default all the way up to those settings, it does get faster as before (but) due to increase in GPU setting, but as before no overall improvement in speed in comparison to pre-614, and hit a brick wall at 1200/1.206v as before

At present runs at 784 secs a WU at the latter settings. As before, no matter the GPU setting its not going faster above 1200 GPU/1.206v

Any ideas where I might be going wrong not getting the speed increase, and you do? (my driver set is the release day driver set recommended when the 7970 first came out, and I am running BOINC 7.0.17)

Putting speed to one side for now, its solid as a rock so far, and going well - nice one :)

Regards
Zy

That's because I mis-typed Tahiti... we'll update again later.

That's a function of the poor Linux Catalyst support for the 79x0 cards. If not running it already, you should try updating to the Catalyst 12.2 that came out a couple of days ago.

Matt

Which drivers do you want using for Win? I am still on the release day drivers for 7970, and 12.1 for 5XXX

I'm using the latest driver and the cards run very well on Milkyway@home.

I'm using 12.2 pre-qualification here (which I need for the pre-release AMD card I have). I think 12.1 would be just fine, too, for 79xxs. Late 11 releases seem ok for 6xxx and 5xxx.

My earlier experience with AMD OpenCL is that the Linux compiler consistently performs worse than the Windows one. (specifically, it's differences in the low level IL->ISA compiler, rather than in the OpenCL->IL one).

I've not yet got a Linux build system working to test whether this is still true.

I don't know about MW@H, but I expect that their app profile is substantially different to that of the bitcoin miner. (Stay tuned to the the GPUGrid forums to see how these new GCN cards work on scientific codes).
