1) Message boards : Number crunching : Why doesn't Donate show up as a project in some of the BOINC stats? (Message 940)

Don't know why I never received an answer, but it's not unusual. Anyway, did 500,000,000 and 150 bitcoins. Wish I could have contributed more but due to a combination of things (need to run something to help with the power bill, too much babysitting the app, etc, etc). Going to run POEM for a while and then will probably have to switch to bitcoin mining myself. Anyway, best of luck with the project, hope some of the problems get solved. Can't complain about the credits, Donate awards more than anything out there. Goodbye at least for now and thanks for all the fish.
2) Message boards : Number crunching : ATI Card Memory Setting (Message 919)

I'm running 5850 and 5870 cards with the memory currently set at 500-600. I've found that to minimize the 590 WUs there has to be 1 full free core per donate WU and the cards have to be underclocked. Running at stock speed causes more 590s. The same cards can be considerably OCed on MilkyWay, Collatz or Moo and never yield an error at those projects. Running the default memory speed does not improve anything, it just draws more power and creates more heat.

Another thing that seems to affect the production of both 590s and computation errors: they seem to increase during the times when the server is acting up, something which happens at least once a day, usually more.

Hi Zydor,

I used to have a lot of 590s when running 2 WUs/GPU which I had to do because of the large number of hung WUs. Upgrading to ATI 12.4 drivers and MSI Afterburner 2.21 solved the hung WU problem which in turn allowed me to return to 1 WU/GPU which solved much of the 590 issue. Instead I gained a new issue which is more failed WUs (always error code 5 in BoincTasks). They always finish but then post as a computation error 5. Those may be the WUs that previously posted as OK but were 590s. I still can get some 590s by allowing too few cores dedicated to Donate. Just found 1 box that was doing that (and allocated another free core) when going though my WUs in response to your post. I'm 100% AMD on the GPU boxes, mostly X6 and other than the various problems that everyone has with Donate they run flawlessly, and I mean NEVER an error on ANY other project, GPU or CPU.

Regards/Beyond

The server connections have been phasing in and out, causing WUs to start and stop and stall. Please check the servers!

It's happening again and has been off and on for hours.

It was working for a while but now it'a down again. Easy to tell, I can hear the GPU fans all spin down as the load goes to 0 :(
