Your personal background.
Spent my time since leaving the military in 1996 in Surrey and Hampshire, in the South of the UK - superb horse riding area to which my horse riding addict wife constantly pays homage. I've spent over 35 years in large scale Communications and Computer systems deployment and management, both in the military and Civil sectors. I tried horse riding a few times in the early days of our 40 year marriage to date, my bumbling efforts failed miserably, much to her kindly amusement, and I now just pay the riding bills for the wonderful Lady who is my Rock, and who allowed me to share my life with her.

Spent the first ten years On Line kind of wondering around, didn’t really get attached as such to one Board or other. Then got immersed into the activities of The Village (pre-cursor to MSN Gaming Zone) and SETI, ran a Cribbage Site for a few years after The Village morphed into the MSN Gaming Zone.

The Zone was a brilliant place to be, tens/hundreds of thousands on line there every night, dozens of gaming rooms, Cribbage being my thing, wonderful friendships made. It was an on line Titan, sadly no more after Microsoft closed it all down to revamp into what is now the commercially orientated games zone. I still remember the night The Zone finally closed down. Thousands of us were "in" the Gaming Rooms and Lobbies, just watching the screen as the Rooms went down one by one during that night, as they closed down the Zone Servers, finally my Room went off line, and that was that. It was a terrible night.

Many Zoners (about 20%) were disabled or lived on their own. The closure was like ripping out their Soul - that will sound over the top to some, but not if you were there and really understood The Zone. The posts in the lobbies from some were harrowing, there were many genuine tears shed - my own included. Life moves on as always, but I'll never forget The Zone, it was an Oasis of genuine friendship in the growing Sea of Ego that the Web was becoming. It was a special One of a Kind, we'll never see the like of it again, sadly.

So here I am in BOINC .... probably stay here until they chuck whats left of me on a fire and turn me into fertiliser for a certain Rose Garden my wife is determined to spread me across when my time comes :)
